back In the day, when I was licensed, you had to keep a log of all activity from your station. That log could be inspected by the FCC. Should they ever want to. Well, that requirement has gone away, but some of us still do keep station logs. Unfortunately The software packages I’ve seen don’t make it easy to make operational notes about your station.
so, years ago, I began keeping a word file of “station notes“. This makes it nice to make a note of when I purchased a new radio, Or solved a particularly interesting problem to do with my Station. I never really thought it would grow to the length that it has.
Keeping track of changes or problems with the station are pretty easy if you’re keeping good notes. All it takes is a search and find define particular subject, or if you want to be fancy about it, you can use heading in navigation pains on Microsoft Word in order to track things down.
keeping track of changes or problems with the station are pretty easy if you’re keeping good notes. All it takes is a search and find to track down a particular entry. I use Microsoft Word, and each new entry leads off with a heading, which is then shown in words navigation pane. This allows me to easily track down any entry.
as a example, here’s one of my entries.
When I get a new radio, or new digital mode interface, I always make note of my set ups for WSJTX. Of course, I always save the configurations so I can switch rigs easily, but I like having a back up, or a Plan B just in case.
So, if you’d like to keep track of your station, I think this is a darn good way to do it. 73 DE WG8X
